A Backbencher…

Hi, I’m a backbencher. It was my choice. No one forced me into it. And it was one of the best things I did in my life. I sat, lost in my world. Paying my attention only to my love, sitting in the first benches. She never looks at me. I am an outcast. Whenever she looks at me, she shoots invisible darts of disgust through them. Why? I don’t understand.

I hear my name being called. I turn to the direction of the sound. Its the teacher. I stand up. its not that I respect him. Its because of the years of ”Sanskaar” I got from my parents. I don’t like him. He points to the board and asks me to solve the question. Numbers are scribbled which seem to be the parametric form of the hyperbola. The answer is evident. But I choose to keep my silence. He says something about my education. Guys in the first benches laugh. She laughs. It doesn’t matter to me. I take my seat.

I never wanted to study this. I had another field of interest. But I had to. because the son of the cousin of my neighbor did so. He is now in America. I have to be in America. To make my - Read More -

parents proud. That I am in America?

I am not happy with this.I want to do what I want. People over the world know me. People of my profession. People who work what I want to. But she doesn’t know that. Or maybe she does. My dad laughs. He says I can’t afford a meal in that profession. But won’t I be happy? Yes. But I have to make my parents proud. I have to be in America.

People don’t like me. It’s evident nowadays. I have fewer friends. But if caught in a drug-trafficking they will come to bail me out. Will hers? No. They would be copying notes, mugging pages and vomiting answers. They will be in America. Her top is short. It rises up to reveal her back every time she bends to write. Guys behind her look. I want to tell her. But I can’t. Because I’m an outcast. A backbencher. I cant keep her happy. I don’t have the ability. To be in America.

I make fun with my friends. They are true. They are like me. They don’t want to go to America. The subject is boring. Few of us know what is taught. Few don’t bother to know the chapter’s name. But something is common. We don’t have interest. We don’t want to go to America.

Years have passed now. All my friends are settled. We earn less. Much less than the first benchers. We have smaller homes. We wear cheaper clothes. But we know how vodka tastes. We know the adventure of living life. We know the thrill of long drives, the fun of dancing in marriages, the tears of love, the pain of separation, we are experienced. Much ahead of the first benchers in the subject called ”Life”. We are happy. I saw her in the news a few days ago. She was married to a billionaire first bencher. Was. She’s now going through her divorce. The guy went America. Married someone else and dumped her with two kids.

I’m a backbencher. It was my choice. No one forced me into it. And it was one of the best things I did in my life. I am content. I am happy. I smile. :)

High and Dry

  • Author’s note: Many thanks to pratham for editing the article, image and supplying me with the necessary expressions.

Ummmm…. Can’t really describe how much it sucks not being able to write. For guys really living & breathing to write; this situation is a……………well, a nightmare?……..(See, even the vocabulary disappears & words fear to sprout out). Even I wrote my last but one post; (The Wanderer), I have been kinda hard pressed for words. Did write one new post later, but to admit something unflattering, my heart wasn’t really in it (See that’s one heavy burden on my chest)…Result??… Unfortunately, a post that sucked big time.

Now, the thing is I’m not the only one facing this sort of situation. Many of the writers at TWH have admitted to this anomaly that creeps up suddenly. Let’s explain this properly.

See, X is a blogger. He likes to write about certain things & his observations. One fine (??) day, he has a brainwave while he is doing a headstand. What does he do??.. he picks up a pen, the garishly colored loose pamphlet that came along with the newspaper & starts writing. He has got the rhythm, he is really getting in the groove…………… & then…he pauses all of a sudden.

What was that witty, sarcastic line he had thought of??.. he just could not remember.. Suddenly he decides to read the last paragraph & prays to Paulo Coelho that he will remember it……..

Well, Paulo Coelho is a busy man & does not answer the prayers of X. Needless to say, our guy loses his confidence & puts the cap back on pen & folds the paper neatly & places it in his diary, hoping to complete his article some other day…..Untill then, his hands shiver for not having completed the article;  not just that he simply utters weird words in dreams & as well like day dreaming…..being addicted to words; he is just become hypnotized to play with words…& when words seem to wipe out suddenly; it’s the worst of the scenes; aspiring & striving to reframe that one single sentence, for the sake of relief & contentment.

A day later, he again pulls out the same page & reads what he has written, to find that link which will connect him to the document in his hands. To his horror, he finds the article sub-par & tries to rewrite it.

After a lot of efforts, & torn pages & faded enthusiasm, he shelves it. Our guy might be a dumbass, but there’s no quit in him. What does he do next??… He valiantly takes up a pen & paper again & tries to write something new…….. (Eager to know what happens  next ??)  So , he posts a status on FB; hoping for that divine intervention. (Paulo Coelho is still busy) Many humans help (or try to help) and he tries everything humanly possible; reading books, trying to write again, eating boiled veggies, making candles out of earwax, trying to save Nokia from a buyout, etc, etc….. But all in vain.As a last attempt for the sake of counting , the guy pulls out the diary & vomits whatever he feels into the pages; & later crawls down his hands on the keyboard to compile the article. Still don’t know when he will recover or not……..He is still there, struggling & striving……High & Dry.

To be a Theist or Atheist

As you may have marked the name of the topic, the two words on either side of “OR” are nearly same; it’s just that the former one has a space between the letter ‘A’, and the word ‘Theist’. To start the discussion with, we must know the correct meanings of both the terms i.e. ‘Theists’ and ‘Atheists’. Literally, Theist is defined as the group of people who think that there exists a guy called ‘GOD’, who made the universe, who planned each activity that will be carried out since its creation, and the one who weighs the balance in such a way that everything is in equilibrium. However, since everything has to be in equilibrium, there exists another group of people, who don’t actually believe in anything called ‘GOD’. They rather believe in a subject called ‘Science’, they argue, find reasons why things happen in a way it has to, or it did and their decisions and conclusions are based on observations and application of Ontology.

So why these two groups really exist?

To maintain equilibrium will be the proper answer, but again this answer will go as a plus point for the Theists, as their concept fits perfectly as the solution of the equation that ‘God made it that way’. Now the disgraced atheists will argue about the existence of God, since theists say that God exist, who the hell did create God? And their starts this never ending circular loop.  The atheist don’t  believe the fact that the whole universe was created by chance, rather they admit that they don’t know . An atheist will say that a triangle with four sides cannot be drawn, and if it can he would like to know the answer; however a theist will say that God can draw it. Ask him how, and you will get silence as the answer.

The only difference between the two groups is belief. The space between the letter ‘A’ and the word ‘Theist’ explains it all. Fill up the space with the belief that nothing such as god exists, you will turn into an atheist. Eliminate the space as well as the letter ‘A’ with the belief that god exists, there you go, the clean believer of god. Nobody takes birth as atheist or theist, its only belief that moulds them as one. Let us take an example, a child is born, his parents being complete theists makes the child to believe truly upon god, till the age of 10 he is a complete theist, but after that age he will seek reasons for the belief, he will observe the daily incidents that happen with him, and if he is able to establish a relationship between them and god, there he goes completely theist again. But the old theist and the new theist are completely different. He may be the same individual but belief is no longer the same. It has taken the shape to attach with the child’s mentality. And the cases when belief fails to do so, atheists are born.

Lets take example of that scene from Pulp Fiction, where the guy gun fires both on Jules and Vincent, and each bullet misses the mark which in case if did hit them would have caused instant death. Jules being a theist believes that God had descended from heaven to help them. But Vincent in the other hand thinks it’s just mere luck. Here are a few dialogues:

Jules: Man, I just been sitting here thinking.

Vincent: About what?

Jules: About the miracle we just witnessed.

Vincent: The miracle you witnessed. I witnessed a freak occurrence.

Jules: What is a miracle, Vincent?

Vincent: An act of God.

Jules: And what’s an act of God?

Vincent: When God makes the impossible possible. But this morning, I don’t think, qualifies.

Jules: Hey, Vincent, don’t you see? That shit don’t matter. You’re judging this shit the wrong way. I mean, it could be that God stopped the bullets, or He changed Coke to Pepsi, He found my fucking car keys. You don’t judge shit like this based on merit. Now, whether or not what we experienced was an “according to Hoyle” miracle is insignificant. What is significant is that I felt the touch of God. God got involved.

The above conversation completely explains how belief plays the key importance in being the type of person you want to be.

Another part where theists suck is that, they too are divided into types when it comes to religion. Every religion has its own god, which divides the principle of theists and makes them in a certain way unequal.  Whereas on the other hand, atheists don’t believe in god, irrespective of religion, they carry the same belief. There exists no god.

Hence the final question comes up, who actually are better, the Theists or Atheists? To be true the word ‘better’ in the question is completely ambiguous.  To be true again, and in fact writing completely out of my mind, none of us really are truly Theists or Atheists. All of us are partially included in them. Many people turn theists only when they are in problems, they ask for god’s help. But when they are happy, they don’t give a damn about anything called ‘God’. And not to kid, even the atheists say ‘Oh God!’ while having sex. Admit the fact, you are none. You are only one another singing, dancing crap of the world. If the world is compared to man’s private part (a.k.a Penis) Theists and atheists are nothing but the balls. They serve no purpose without the world; and the world does not exist without them.

To end with a quote by Albert Einstein:

“Try and penetrate with our limited means the secrets of nature and you will find that, behind all the discernible laws and connections, there remains something subtle, intangible and inexplicable. Veneration for this force beyond anything that we can comprehend is my religion. To that extent I am, in fact, religious.”

The Beginner’s guide to Web Hosting in 10 Steps

To make your site available in Worldwideweb, you need a place to host it.  This place is provided by the web hosting provider. The web hosting as a service incorporates the space where your website files are stored, the traffic to your website, and lots of extra services such as firewall protection, technical assistance, email services, FTP access, domain name registration etc. To make it clear, This post is all about shared hosting and small sites.

When me and few of my friends started this blog, all I did was just bought a domain. One of my friend helped me to host this on his VPS for free. I hosted there for free for many months, but eventually it turned out that he no longer needs that VPS. So I had to get a web hosting provider by my own. Being a noob in web hosting at that time and finally googling for hours, One of my friend told me about a web hosting place. I went up to there, registered, paid and got my hosting account information in 24 hours. And I was screwed.

I chose a plan that said:

- Unlimited Space
– Unlimited Bandwidth
– Unlimited no. of Domains
– Unlimited no of sub-domains
– Unlimited no of databases

However, although writing ’99.9% Uptime’ they forgot to mention ‘Unlimited Downtime’. They emphasized more on that 0.1% part. As I had paid 9$ for one month of shared hosting, and I had still 20 days remaining, all I did (or could do) was open infinite number of tickets on their customer panel. They replied to few, the rest went dead and many times invisible. Being frustrated I finally went on the quest of searching for another web host. I could not ask a refund from them as I didnt pay from Paypal. So eventually I got myself in search of another host. They were extremely cheap, 50GB bandwidth, 2 GB space, and 3 add-on domains, all for 9$, and that too the plan was for 3 months. I was happy, but then it started to suck. They lowered bandwidth to 13GB, space to 200MB, and a single domain only. Yes they sucked, and they were WebHostingIndia.  And after finally starving there for 3 months, I moved to AsmallOrange and we are now running perfect. Yes, though it costs 5$ per month, but I get what I paid for. No Downtime, fast hosting, fast response and everything that was mentioned in their website. Hence I decided to write a post for my fellow blogger friends who are interested in getting their own domain and host for blog. This Posts contains 10 steps, or points that might enable you to choose a web host properly.  Here it goes..

Choosing a Web Host

1) Analyze the type of  site you will start, a blog, a forum, a streaming site. Try to estimate the amount of visitors you will gain in a month. This will help you to catch the amount of Bandwidth and web space you need.

2) Reliability of the host: You need to make sure that the host is reliable, they don’t cheat or provide less features then mentioned in their page. Normally you can simply put up their name in google and do some basic research about them. Google will lead you to various links where the users might have reviewed them, or complain against them.  Sherlcok Homes was unlucky that he didn’t have google then.

3) Bandwidth (Data Transfer/ Traffic) : It is commonly defined as the amount of data transferred from your site (or the server you are hosting in) to the visitors visiting or browsing your site. Never trust hosts that say Unlimited Bandwidth for less costs. They too have to pay for bandwidth usage, and since they aren’t monks, they won’t simply silently pay for you. Always have a look on how much data transfer your host allows.  And if your plan says unlimited, do check their policies. For the Unlimited is just another point in the word limited. I will always suggest you to go for limited ones, as they normally are trust worthy.  Always do a survey on your usage for each month, and estimate what it might be next month. And then choose a plan that has at least 10GB more usage then your estimation. Make sure that you never pay for extra usage after your bandwidth is over.  Also its always wiser to prevent hotlinking of images from your site by blocking it in .htaccess file. It helps to save a lot of bandwidth.

4) Disk Space: Generally disk space is not much of a concern, your blog might not even go about more then 50MB. If your website is more of image based, or videos (ex: tutorials), it won’t be of much size. If you want to use it as a place for storing files, make sure about the maximum size of a file allowed. Also do watch out about the unlimited schemes like that of bandwidth.

5)  FTP,PHP,SSL,SSH,.htaccess, CronJobs: If you don’t know what these mean, I will recommend you to google, In case you want to run a business site, that includes monetary transactions, SSL is must. .htaccess will help you to setup permalinks, error pages, etc. FTP is used to transfer files, a better way over classic Cpanel. However generally shared hosts don’t allow SSH or root access, so in case you need it for your website, you can go for a VPS. Also th feature Cronjob is important as well, it will automatically perform functions for you at different intervals.

6) E-Mails:  E-Mails, as you know is one of the basic requirement for your website. it helps to gain popularity easily, as well as perform as auto-responder. You should check about the no. of email accounts allowed, and storage. It will look decent if the authors of your blog use a name@yourdomain.com rather then own emails.

7) No. of Domains: I will personally recommend you to  get a host that supports multiple domains, rather then one. You can simply team up with one of your friend to get a better web host and host multiple sites. However, you should always grab a look on how much $ does the packages differ by in relation to additional domains.

8) Price: The most important part of selecting a web host.  Are you getting services perfectly for which you are paying? Is the host charging extra money for a service that you don’t need? Are there better packages which you can get for the same amount of money? A expensive hosting is just like a hot girl, Its not always true that an expensive service is always the best, there always something better.

9) Duration of Payment:  There are various payment plans available such as monthly, half yearly, yearly. You shall always find that their are certain discounts on the longer subscription plans. But, sometimes it maybe a trap. For example, if you have bought a host for a year, and after using 3 months they started giving problems, and don’t respond to you, You might know that you are screwed. So its always better to choose a short duration for a longer time. For example you can use the monthly payment system for 3 months, and then get a subscription. Prevention is better than Cure, nuff said.

10) Onshore  or Offshore hosting: Onshore is hosting located in your country (in most cases on these forums, it refers to US-based hosting providers) and offshore is hosting located in a different country. Most times, people look for offshore hosting providers if they are hosting content that may not be legal in their home country. In case you want to host just a simple blog, you can use Onshore hosting. However if you are planning to use Nulled Scipts, its always better to go for Off-Shore hosting. Its less risky, and the probability that you will get piracy related notices are less.

Extra: Since nearly all the webhosts provide cPanel these days, I thought it would be futile to write about it.  Also you must check about their customer service, helpdesk and time taken to clear tickets. The response time is much needed at certain situations.

End Notes: To mention at the last, their exists nothing such as perfect host. their always exists better, and it always will. It depends upon you on how to find it. Hopefully this post will help you to gain idea about what really a webhost is, and how to get one that fulfills your needs. If you have any doubts, feel free to ask in comments. :)

~The Flawless Mistake~

You AtTeMpT something,

To put one-step forward;

& you learn from EaCh & EvErY MiStAkE….

By far now, have read & heard a lot more than countless times about mistakes. As being ‘mistakes’ are the stepping stones to new learning; overcoming ‘mistakes’ is the first step towards success; always make ‘new mistakes’; ‘Mistakes & faults’ are destined. Also the great Albert Einstein quoted as ‘anyone who has never made a ‘mistake’ has never tried anything new’.

Moreover having come across versatility of mistakes just as grammatical & spelling mistakes; punctuation & pronunciation errors, identification & recognition mistake, faulty practices, Mistake of law (a defensive action for criminal charges on the grounds of ignorance of law); gaffe (a verbal mistake, usually arises from saying something that is true, but inappropriate;  also an erroneous attempt to reveal a truth). So having done bit of homework to avoid committing a ‘mistake’; precisely ‘mistake’ is an error caused by a fault; the fault being misjudgment, carelessness, or forgetfulness; thus mistake can sometimes be dispelled through knowledge (knowing that one is looking at a illusion & not at any real substance does not make the mirage disappear).

Exploring intentionally & not vaguely by mistake; committing a mistake knowingly or unintentionally, directly or indirectly continuously revolves the vicious circle of repetition, realizing, admitting, confessing, improvising, seeking expert guidance, critically examining, overdependence, scrapping out & the worst of it merely ignoring it.

Merely accepting the mistake & moving ahead without giving heed to the cause & crust of the issue; is similar to like burying the minor mistakes with yet another series of mistakes to create a stacky complex mountain; just like a chain of lies follow to hide one single lie (small mistake). A ‘mistake’ sailing along with a apologize or ‘sorry’ is always likely to drown sooner or later; without getting any lifeguards to alter, analyze, understand the root cause & acting upon on the second chance.

Stressing over the ‘out of the track theme’ of this articulate creation as; when it comes to surpassing to attempt a flawless mistake….in my opinion, attempting flawless mistakes requires ample of patience, determination, result oriented efforts, perseverance unlike the same striving for the goals to be achieved.

Mistakes too have their own signals & vibrations.…

Some mIsTaKeS in LiFe can be by mIsTaKe.

Some IdEaZ, ThOuGhTz are expressed,

Some DeCiSiOnS are taken,

Some DrEaMz are imagined,

Some pRiNcIpLeS, VaLuEs are followed,

Some qUaLiTiEs are acquired,

Some ThInGz are experienced,

Some MiNdS get corrupted,

Some NeEdS, ReQuIrEmEnTs are fulfilled,

Some PrObLeMs are created,

Some GrEaT DeEds take place.

Revealing out further about mistakes; revolving thoughts around & brainstorming for attempting flawless mistakes; jus coz even a minor, mistake may not necessarily transform into another ‘big mistake’; but may as well create hurdles for other major mistakes. Excessive post mortem & brooding over any small, petty or even big blast of mistake; coz again it just leaves behind fruitless conclusions which also are a result of unproductive use of time & like precious stuffs.

So without committing yet another ‘mistake’ of stretching this note too long like a daily soap or compiling the sequels of this story, beyond a limit; so just leaving behind for a while on the thought of attempting, striving & exploring more of ‘flawless mistake’ for a ‘change’.…

In the bottom line; almost all of us do ‘mistakes’ (directly or indirectly; intentionally or otherwise; confessing others or just to self) at some or the other point of time; but doing a ‘flawless mistake’ has its own ‘privilege’ &…….
